Imagine locking eyes with a wild mountain gorilla in the depths of a mist-draped rainforest. Our 3-Day Uganda Gorilla Trekking Safari is crafted for travelers who want this once-in-a-lifetime encounter without rushing the journey. You will travel through Uganda’s dramatic landscapes, venture into Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), and spend an hour in the presence of one of the planet’s most endangered and awe-inspiring species.
This 3 Day Uganda Gorilla Trekking is a short but unforgettable safari that is ideal for guests starting in Kampala or Entebbe and can be customized for arrivals or departures via Kigali. Choose budget, mid-range, or luxury lodges; every detail focuses on comfort, safety, and impact: your trip supports gorilla conservation and local communities.
This itinerary delivers a time-efficient but enriching experience. It is customizable, conservation-focused, and guided by local experts who are deeply familiar with the forest and its inhabitants. We handle permits months in advance to secure your place; our guides are storytellers and wildlife spotters who prioritize safety and respect for the animals.
Gorilla trekking permits are limited and often sell out months in advance. Secure your spot now and let us take care of the details—permits, transport, accommodation, and the small touches that make a safari unforgettable.
Your driver-guide picks you up early from your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe International Airport. The road trip southwest is part of the experience, passing rolling hills, fertile farms, and vibrant roadside markets. We stop at the Equator Monument for a short photo opportunity and continue toward the terraced highlands. Lunch is served en route in Mbarara, then we travel on to Bwindi. Arrive late afternoon, check in, relax, and enjoy dinner while your guide briefs you for the gorilla trek.
Accommodation options:
Dawn brings the forest alive. After an early breakfast, we transfer to Bwindi Park Headquarters for registration and a safety briefing. Guided by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers and experienced trackers, your small trekking group sets off into dense rainforest. The walk can vary from one to six hours depending on the gorilla family’s location; the trail includes uneven ground, stream crossings, and steep sections.
When the gorilla family appears, you will spend a full hour observing them. Watch silverbacks stand sentinel, mothers care for infants, and juveniles play among the undergrowth. The encounter is intimate, humbling, and unforgettable.
Return to the lodge for lunch and rest. In the afternoon, you can opt for a cultural visit to a Batwa community to learn traditional forest skills, songs, and stories—an opportunity to understand the human history woven into Bwindi’s forests.
After a relaxed breakfast you begin the return journey. Enjoy more of Uganda’s landscapes—banana plantations, waving children, and Ankole cattle. We stop for lunch en route and aim to arrive in Kampala or Entebbe in the late afternoon. Drop-off is at your hotel or at Entebbe International Airport for onward travel.
